USB Unplugging sound constantly playing and tanking FPS ingame only when Steam is open

This is a repeating problem that occasionally disappears for a day then comes back...

Whenever I have steam open, my computer plays the usb plug in and then plug out sound evey 20 second, and i dont know what to do! The first problem is whenever it happens, it drops the framerate in every game I play, so i can be playing arma 3 at 20 FPS and then, the USB sound happens, and my heart skips a beat, as the framerate drops to 1 FPS and i pray that it comes back, but then, as it is just recovering, it happens again, until my game crashes. That is only in Arma, in stuff like CS:GO it will drop from 40 to 10 and I am then killed multiple times in the time it needs to recover. The second problem is it is incredebly annoying. Even if there is a game that i can cope with the frame drop in, it is annoying to hear the usb plug in/out noise every 20-30 seconds. I have found that it is only when steam is open that it happens constantly, as when steam is closed it will happen once or twice every half an hour. I dont know what to do and I dont know wether someone else has had this problem, or it is just my 8 year old computer, I dont know...

sounds like a loose wire inside the mouse.
happens more often when steam is open because you are moving the mouse more in games.

i had a loose wire on an old mouse and it would connect and disconnect almost constantly.

I thought ity may be that but it was happening before i got my new mouse a few weeks ago, and hopefully it isn't a loose wire cos i payed quite a bit for this mouse...

Did you fix it? I ve had the same issue for past few years and its super annoying.

Had a similar problem happen when the back USB headers on my motherboard decided to stop giving enough power to my peripherals. I would recommend getting a powered USB hub or a SATA-powered USB 3.0 PCI-E card (I ended up doing this) if all else fails. Your PS/2 mouse and keyboard should work over USB with the proper adapters.
