Steam won't download to one of my hard drives.
On one of my hard drives, all steam downloads to it end in a disk write error while on the other two drives, the downloads finish fine. I have tried downloading a game from GOG Galaxy onto the hard drive that steam won't download to and it worked just fine. Along with this, Windows, Defraggler, and Crystal Disk info all say that the drive is healthy. Does anyone know what would be causing this?

Launch Steam; pause or halt any Downloads in your Queue.
Go to Settings > Download > Steam Library Folder > select the drive that had this issue as you say; then on that drive from this option, create a new Steam Library.

Once created. Fully exit out of Steam (and double check that Steam.exe is not running under Task Manager > Processes)

Then go to that drive... I will example easy examples to help explain.
Say drive is letter "X" go there...
Current Steam Library Folder > X:\SteamLibrary (now rename this with a 2 at the end of the name)

Your newly created Steam Library Folder you just made; whatever that would be on X Drive, now rename that to what was the name of the original folder above.

Then go to "SteamLibrary2" folder; high-light all files/folder inside there; then right click them and click CUT.

Now go to the new Steam libary folder and right click that folder; then click PASTE

Wait til it says it has finished.

When completed, re-launch Steam Client.

Any game that was within X:\SteamLibrary
Go to that game in Steam Client > Library list of Games
Right click a GameName > click Properties > go to Local Files tab > click Verify
Wait til that completes.

Should be all ok now.

If it persists after this change... go to Computer (or This PC) right click the drive letter of the drive having issues and click Properties > then click Tools > Check Now > tick both boxes ON and click OK. Allow that to finish fully without interruptions. Exit Steam Client before trying this method.
Yeah I did both of those and neither worked

Then go to the Folders on the other drive(s) > Properties of each folder > Security and ensure Admins, Users, and your local user names all have Full Control.
I changed it to full control and it changed nothing

What I found worked was that I went into 'Steam > Settings (Turn off Family View if On) > Downloads > Steam Library Folders > Look for the drive you want to download the game on > Right Click and make default. When you go download the game, the part where it shows the drive that the game is going to be downloaded on will be empty but just click Next and you should be good.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
