Tradable & Marketable After....
I've been getting really annoyed with Steam. I am making badges from buying cards from the market to complete card sets but EVERYTHING you get from the badge created becomes trade & market locked for 7 whole days.

This is unacceptable especially for users that are really into trading cards and are using the 2step mobile authenticator. Why are we being punished?

What is the idea of TRADING cards if you can't trade them?

I was thinking of completing another 25-30 card sets that i have cards from by buying them from the market but i don't see the point anymore since all those holiday cards/backgrounds/emoticons will be trade & market locked for such a long time.

DO NOT PUNISH MOBILE AUTHENTICATION USERS please.

Excuse my use of caps but i am annoyed.

This is your seven day lock you are talking about? That's a standard restriction that has been in place for a long time, authenticator or not. I'm not sure its purpose and I have been frustrated by it in the past.

The initial 7 day trading lock on items purchased in the Market is to ensure that the funds used are legitimate. It is primarily a funding validation mechanism in that fraud from using stolen cc or other methods are generally discovered during that 7 day cooldown.

Yeah there was a bit of lack of information on my part and an assumption. When you craft a badge, any trade/market restrictions on any of the cards used carry over to the created items, for reasons of potential fraud. I assumed that even with a full set of tradable/marketable cards that a restriction was applied; it is not.

Anyhow, this is getting off topic for this thread ...

I'm sorry but what are you talking about, potential fraud? Thats a pretty poor and flawed excuse to make purchases untradable. And a straight up lie.

You already get a 7 day market hold when you add a NEW payment method. So talking about paying with fraudulent credit cards excuse is already invalid.

I still haven't gotten an answer to this bs market hold.

No.. That is a policy.. Any time you use a new payment method to put money into steam, either by buying a game or feeding it into the wallet, there is a probation time put on that money and anything bought with that money... You can gift stuff that is on probation but not trade it, and if gifted, it still has the probation on it.. I think that it's 7 days now, but for a while it was 14 days.

Dude, i'm saying the fraudulent purchases excuse is invalid for me as i have not put any new payment methods on steam in the past 9 years.

I have not changed payment method since the day i've been using steam (9 years ago) AND i have been using the mobile authenticator since day 1.

So what excuse is there for getting a market hold on purchased trading cards?

Too long since your last purchase?... Changed password?.. made any other change on your account? I'm not support and don't have access to your account so can't tell you, and good luck getting someone at Valve to do it, but I'm sure they'd find some fine clause in there somewhere that you triggered a security flag.. Farting too close you a steam controller or sneazing while wearing a Vive I'm sure can do it. Get your lawyer to go through the Steam TOS and I'm sure he'd find something you did.

PS: They really like holds... It's how they deal with everything since about 6 years ago.. Ever more and longer hold times.

No, no ... his gripe is with when you buy an item off the market you can't trade or resell it for seven days.

I'm telling you, there is no reason for this hold on items. They are just screwing with loyal customers.

I'm now stuck with a whole bunch of untradable items due to their rediculous policy.

I'm not a low lvl account, i have 18662 market history transactions, i have hundreds of trades, i haven't changed my payment method for 9 years. I've been using the mobile authenticator ever since it came out, i often buy games and gift games to friends/gf. Last time i changed my password was 2 years ago.

I don't know what more i can do to be a loyal customer without taking it from behind by Valve.

But this isn't a new restriction though. It has been in place for a long time. Why is it only now you have found it to become an issue?

I have voiced my discontent about this matter before last year but I don't feel like just laying down and taking it.

Why is there a restriction? I still haven't got an answer to my question.

Thanks for reopening my thread. As i will try to explain again with more facts about the subject.

1) I have never changed my payment method, been using the same for 9 years (paypal)

2) i have been using the Steam mobile authenticator since it came out, plus have had the steam mobile app since day of release.

3) I have not changed my password for a long time (last time 2 years ago)

4) i have not logged onto a new device for a long time.

Crafting a badge with 1 purchased card (which has a trade hold for 7 days) will render all of the crafted items trade AND market held for another 7 days.

I do not understand these restrictions, they are trading cards/items.

I am using the mobile authenticator so nothing gets passed my final approval for trading/selling.

I was able to sell my trading cards that came from this event until yesterday. I dont know what happened.
I also didnt change my payment method
I also have been using the steam mobile authenticator since it came out and had the steam app since release
I never changed my password for 7 years straight.
And I always had two to three PC's switched between them from time to time.
I get that not being able to do things with games in first week but i dont understand the trading cards especially it is for crafting and selling/buying. And ESPECIALLY when there is an event. Weird.
