EA Games on Steam can be obtained for FREE?! Is this a bug?!

My friend showed me this:
1. Purchase an EA game (not all work) such as Medal of Honour on Steam. A list of games that work can be found here: http://techgage.com/article/migrating_your_ea_games_from_steam_or_retail_to_origin/
2. Use the "CD Key" option to see the CD key
3. Redeem this on Origin
4. Refund the game on Steam. You still have the game on origin.

I didn't believe this at first, but my friend tried it and it worked. Is this some sort of bug? Is this even allowed? (It's probably not ) I think this issue should be addressed.

My friend tried, BF2, NFS Hot Pursuit 2010, Shift 2 Unleashed they also work. I didn't believe at first but then he showed me. I witnessed it.

Are any EA games on Steam that's really worth the hassle anyhow? Heck, many people don't even want the game free if it's not worth their time--Medal of Honor is an example.

Besides, Origin gives that game for free periodically.

Believe this was something EA stated you could do back at the launch of Origin it as well as retail keys. It's not stealing since you already own the serial key your inputting, your not obtaining another copy just another point of distribution this being the publisher.

You're missing the point, he's talking about getting a refund from Steam so he can still have the game on Origin for free. I imagine EA would be notified by Valve of the refund though, and they could later revoke the key on Origin too.

One of my biggest worries about the refund system initially was the DRM-free games.
