Steam Shortcuts Are Little Globes? (Windows 10)
A few of my game shorcut icons are just randomly turning into globes. No reason why, it's just happening. I'm on Windows 10 and I haven't been able to find a fix yet. Any solution?

Since Steam's shortcuts are .url files, they likely display the globe as they're technically website addresses (which are browser protocols.)

The fact they show up as globes imply it can't find the game's .ico -files for some reason. You can try to manually apply them under Properties > Change Icon...

Steam's icons are stored under
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam\games

Not that it should affect the functionality one bit though.

I'm not sure how to change it, it says change but just gives me the option for changing the icon itself.

By right mouse clicking the shortcut > Properties > Change Icon > Browse...

Then just navigate self under -- Steam\steam\games\ and choose the correct .ico -file.

Ok it's not working :/ I select it and click apply but it stays as the globe icon.

Does that hold true if you click anywhere on your desktop > [New > Shortcut] and then apply steam://rungameid/<app-ID> as the file's location and then try fetching the .ico file via [Change icon] ?

i.e. Arma 3 would be steam://rungameid/107410

It works for the most part, but CSGO says it's lauching unsecurely, and that I can't use VAC servers?

CS:GO says that with steam://rungameid/730 ?

Yes.
Then you'd think it says that on the Steam -client too when you hit [Play], since it's essentially running the same protocol.

I honestly don't know. Hardly understand messing with game files that well.
