Let them remove you from your friend list the less information they know the better.

Yup, or just remove them yourself

I agree. The more they bother you about your privacy, the less trustworthy friends they're likely to be.

Don't let people force you into giving private information. I do have a problem with friending people with private profiles. You can say a lot about yourself that is accurate without giving up personal information that will compromise you at work or with your friends and family.

I definitely believe that if people are posting opinions, they should have a public profile with some basic information, like what you are into and what your motivations are. It creates legitimacy and allows for honest debate.

For example, I spent a lot of time on the early access games forums. I am a gamer consumer, and say so in my profile so it is easy to figure out what I am all about. I do not work for the gaming industry in any way. There are a half dozen people who defend some of the most unethical practices of EAG, and have private profiles. No one was surprised when later we learned that some were game moderators who work for game developers and some were programmers, all of who have a vested interest in some of the questionable practices of EAG.

So having a public profile with some basic information is a good thing, it shows a degree of honesty and full disclosure in a debate. A person must declare him/her self, they must stand and be recognized! Not snipe from the shadows like some cowardly sneak theif.

However, you should not include any important personal information in your public profile. There are just too many questionable people on the internet for that.

Do not waste your time friending people who make demands on you. They have an angle, and are not to be trusted.

There is nothing dishonorable in my opinion with a private profile if you do not enter into public debates or discussions. However, I think it is dishonest to comment in a debate while hiding in the shadows.
