New phone, remove authenticator on old?
Hi,

So i just got a new (iphone 7 to a 8) and i did the backup/restore thing and i noticed i didnt need to do anything on the new phone.
Only logging in, do you think i can remove the authenticator on the old phone without getting a 15 day tradehold?

Thanks

If you remove Authenticator you'll get trade hold. Just delete Steam app on the old phone and that's it.

Then you removed the active auth while its still active.

Make the new phone the auth with a code from the active app.
"I have access to a code".

Thing is i dont have that option, it got “automaticlly” added when i restored the new phone from the backup.
I didnt have to do anything when opening the steam app for the first time besides just logging in with my credentials.

I think im gonna delete the app from the old phone without an internetconnection and see what happens unless someone got a better solution
Can you actually login with codes from both auth apps?
They both are active?
Do both show the same codes and times?

Yeah, that’s how it works if you set up a new iPhone by restoring from your old phone’s last backup. And yeah, it puzzled me at first when I set mine up that way, but it’s how it works and you’re clear to delete the app from your old phone.

When you restored your phone, data from the old Steam app got copied to the new phone, so basically Authenticators on the both phones are the same.
If you remove Authenticator through within the Steam app itself, authenticator will get removed from both devices.
That's why you only need to delete app on the old phone. And doesn't matter is internet connection on or off.

Thanks guys
Would have been interesting to know if the codes and timers ran simultanous on both devices.

If the second phone restored backup made by the fisrt phone, then yes, both of them are showing same codes at the same time.

I use Android phones and when I copy Steamguard-76561198120266850 from /data/data/com.valvesoftware.android.steam.community/files/ to another phone, both of them are working simultaneously
