"cannot read property 'takefocus' of undefined"
Hawe problem with remote play on my Fujitsu Stylistic Q704 i7 steam show window with message "cannot read property 'takefocus' of undefined"

Together we find some fix:

1. Go to your server and set Steam to Big Picture Mode.
2. On your client, activate Big Picture Mode as well.
3. Stream your game.

I also tried to play remotely, but nothing happens after clicking "Stream". I switched to my laptop, installed Steam and got the same message.

Maybe it help someone but not for me. What steam support answered me:

This is a known issue that our development team is aware of and working on addressing in the future. Please try the following steps to resolve the issue that involves deleting your clientui and steamui folders in your Steam installation.

To do so:

1) Exit the Steam client from the Steam menu
2) Locate your Steam installation (by default this is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam on Windows)
3) Delete the folders "clientui" and "steamui"
4) Restart Steam and then retest the issue (Steam will automatically recover/fix the deleted folders)

Same issue for me. The steps provided didn't help. I performed the steps above on both ends (Windows client and Windows stream source)

So, steam support answered me again:

"Thank you for taking the time to report this issue. I am sorry, but I do not have a fix for you at this time. As stated previously, this is a known issue that our development team is aware of and working on addressing in the future.

Along with reports submitted directly to Support, the Steam team uses a number of community sources to help investigate the frequency and severity of issues like this. These issues are continually being addressed through Steam Updates. Support does not provide any information on upcoming or planned fixes.

Again, I am sorry that we do not have a fix for you at this time."

Okay, i'll wait... :crossout_craft:

Same here. Linux in both sides. Server with nvidia gtx 780, client with intel iGPU.
eduardp Nov 29, 2022 @ 5:56am
In my case The same server works without problems using steam link with a phone with android.
eduardp Nov 29, 2022 @ 6:00am
Using a WIndows client (instead of linux client, same machine, and same server) the error remains, even when the link seems to work with android's steam link.

Same for me. I am trying to stream from my desktop to my laptop (both win11). Deleting the folders - as suggested above - does not work.

I'm also having this issue, streaming from desktop Windows 10 to laptop Windows 10
