Steam minimizes to system tray instead of taskbar

I'm having this issue where for some reason, when I click the minimize button, instead of minimizing to the taskbar like most other programs do and like Steam itself always did before, it minimizes itself to the the system tray instead and it's extremely annoying and I can't find any settings to stop this. The only temporary solution to this to pin Steam to the taskbar but it still doesn't exactly behave properly as a minimized program should but I'm not sure how to explain it

I'm posting this in hopes that either I get a solution to this or know if it's a permanent change from some update or something and express my unhappiness with this change

EDIT: This bug (I don't know if it is but that's what I'll be calling it for now) happens completely randomly each time you start up your PC. If you want to fix this, you have to restart your PC.

Same issue and it is indeed quite recent.
Pinning Steam to the taskbar doesn't really solve the issue since it behave as if you were double-clicking the icon in the notification tray, hence bringing you to the chosen window instead of the one you were previously at.

Alt-Tabbing still works, but I can't understand why such a change was made.

Edit : And... It's now back in the taskbar. No idea why or how.

I can also confirm that sometimes in minimizes to system tray and sometimes in the taskbar each time I start or restart my computer. It's super annoying

Restart your PC, that usually fixes it. It's annoying having to do this just for Steam but if it bothers you more than it bothers me, that's one of your options

You won't believe how simple the solution to this problem is! It just worked for me at least.
Open the Steam Library window and then close it via the X on the top right. Then open the library window again. Voila! It's being shown on the taskbar again.
I know how unlikely this sounds! But it actually worked for me (and others in another thread). :-)
