Report a translation problem
In my experience, Steam does use a lot of resources and it's also a somewhat threaded application, so that it can use all available cores for processing. your GPU might also 'rev up' so to speak, to deal with any games that might be launched or even just for the overlay itself (the shift tab screen ingame)
All I know is i'm trying to get Steam to download at faster than 5 kilobytes a second. I'm not spending -six days- to download a game.
