Getting an Unusual amount of friend invites

As of late I've been getting several friend invites from people I don't even know.
Every friend request so far I had a quick look at who this person was, what games they played and if there is some way, I could have played with them with out actually being aware of it.

So far, I've not been able to find a link a connection of games we both play and some friend requests didn't even have there steam client installed...

I hardly ever accept friend requests, unless I really know the person because we frequently play the same game. Just because I only played once with someone doesn't mean he or she are now suddenly my friends... I'm pretty sure other think along the same lines here...

I don't advertise myself, nor do I like beind in the spots lights, so I highly doubt they actually played with me at all.

This all has me slightly worried, not for my steam account, but more general quality of steam.
There are plenty of scams happening on a daily bassis...

So...
Am I the only one seeing this or am I just being paranoid

Maybe they have similar groups to you or found you through a comment you made?

I get same and they dont want to trade I added one and they said nothing.

Some people are less paranoid than you and they like to blind-invite even if they don't know you. Likely they saw some comment you made somewhere and just added you from that.

Otherwise, they searched your name string, your name popped up and they went to look at your public profile, and just thought you would be someone good to get close to...wait, now you can be paranoid.

Yes could be but I get about 7 invites about seems a little odd that all.

Ahh well, I'll just shelf it as I'm being a bit to paranoid and continue to ignore them as usual...
It still feels odd, for I've been on steam of god known how long and all of the sudden there is this wave of friend requests.
