Can anyone get a download speed past 10mb/s?
In the Steam settings, you can limit your downloads up to 25mb/s. I have managed to get up to 10.1mb/s. It'll stay for about 10 seconds before the download stops (start and stop issue). Have anyone had more than 10.1mb/s or even close to the 25mb/s mark?

I have an internet speed of 75mb down/35mb up. I would think I should be able to download more than 10.1mb/s.

In Origin, I have downloaded up to 18mb/s. Why can't I get the same with Steam Client? Any tips or ways to get more downloaded for Steam?

Steam's speed is in megaBYTES per second, not megaBITS per second. If you're getting 10.1, that's very good, it's equal to 80 MBit/second.
Steam has low DL levels.

Uh, I never once mention megabits. As I did say, 10.1mb seems on the low end, considering what my speeds are.

Excalibur, I don't understand why.
You have a 75 megabit per second connection speed. You are downloading at 10megabytes per second. That is about right for your connection speed. You should only be getting about 10 (a little less actually) megabytes per second.

I think the confusion comes from how you formatted your numbers. Normally, you represent bits using a lower case 'b' while bytes on the other hand, are represented using an upper case 'B'.

Anyways, if your internet speed is 75 MB/s, then the problem likely lies server side (or possibly in between you and it). Try switching your Download Region in the Steam settings to a location closer to where you live (or if it is already, the next closest).

My apologies. I'll remember to do that. I was just typing fast. I meant MB/s.

I noticed that Steam doesn't have all the download regions available to choose from, even tho they are listed on steams interactive map. I'm near Boston, and Rhode Island or CT seems to have the least traffic. I have changed to NY, Detroit, and DC. They jump to 10MB quickly, but stops.
I doubt you have 75 Megabyte per second speeds as a consumer in the United States. Those types of speeds just are not readily available to US consumers.

You probably have 75 megabit per second. Which is just under 10 Megabytes per second.

Go to a site like Speedtest and see what your connection speed is.

my 27,00Gbps speed is good on steam /60Mbps=1Gbps or 27,00GB/h
= (7,5 MB/s)

Someone sounds salty with their 50kb/s download speeds. Because it is possible, take a look at mine. :P

So you just proved nothing, other than your ignorance of the topic at hand, cause you have 100 megabit, not megabyte (according to your link).

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4086576408

I have 60Mb/s. You have 100Mb/s. Both are still no where near 75 Megabyte per second. Which is 600Mb/s speeds.

And I didn't say impossible, there are places where Google is offering their 500-1000 Mb/s speed (Gigabit) service. I said I doubt it. Which was correct because that user did not have 75 Megabyte per second download speeds.

Connect speeds for residential users at those levels do exist, but it's doubtful, as I said, that any user here complaining that their 75mb/s speed is only downloading at 10mb/s on Steam is actually supposed to be getting 75megabyte and not just megabits. These Gigabit connections are not available everywhere, or really many places in the US at all. Your speed is no where near 75 Megabytes per second.

Still far from 75 Mega'bytes' per second, so I don't see your point. :)

That's like 13,45MB/s for download and 1,52MB/s for upload.

I doubt we'll hear back from him. Nothing like bumping a 5 month old thread just to look foolish :)

Worth it :D:
I actually really want him to respond.

As Gru would say, "I have pins and needles I am sitting on."
