Make sure your date & time is correct, both on the Windows system and in the BIOS (they both have to be the same time).

Can you load any other web pages that uses "https" instead of "http"?

I am on a mac and no I can't do that in steam, I am able to do in a internet browser.

Would you happen to be in the Steam client beta?
If so, according to one user opting out of the beta fixed it for him;
I'VE FOUND A SOLUTION: To fix it, go into your settings. On the first tab you will see a button called "Beta Participation". Click "Change". Go down into the dropdown menu and choose "OPT out of all Beta programs". Click "OK". It will ask you to restart Steam. When you load it back up, it will be downloading an update. Then when the client is finished, you should be able to go into everything again. NOTE: I found this out myself.

If you aren't in the beta, you might want to try opting into the beta, which should be basically the same steps as above just opting in, and not out.

I just had the same problem; maybe from old files left behind after all these latest client updates, not sure what the deal was. Anyways I deleted the following (down below) and all is working now.

> Exit Steam Client

Nav to:
Steam\appcache\
Delete:
> httpcache

Nav to:
Steam\config
Delete:
> cookies
> htmlcache

> Launch Steam Client and try the checkout process again. If the page-load somehow fails again, try removing everything from your cart and try it again.

I did what you asked but I can't get to it now, when it asked me for my date of birth, it tells me that steam helper crashed.

Then I'd say u have other issues at hand here. Either u have a malicious infection of some sort, or your Steam Client files in general are corrupted.

Well, if something doesn't work, try something else. Like, for example, if you can't purchase from the client, try purchasing from the browser.

Yes; if client appears to be having issues; try from within your web browser.

I had (I think) the same problem. From what I understand, steam needs to be validated with a certain ssl certificate that recently expired and was replaced. You need to delete the expired version as per these instructions

I don't actually know what I'm talking about but it fixed the issue for me.
