Well chromium uses alot of ram in some cases.

http://www.kinnunen-network.com/uimg/steamwh.PNG

Well, ya, if you open a bunch of tabs filled with porn it will use a lot of memory ;P

Why are you opening porn in Steam's browser of all places?

Mine is using 300MB.

I mean the chrome.exe that he shows in his screenshot.

The point being that the memory usage of the browser is determined by what you are browsing. I showed this earlier in the Steam Browser, when I showed before and after pictures of viewing the Dota 2 community page full of artwork and screenshots and it went from 30-40MB to over 250MB just for loading the page.

Noticed this running in my process, keep trying to end it but it keeps reappearing.
Getting annoyed now.. I never asked for steam to eat up some of my ram... I never even asked or wanted Steam in the first place.. but the game I always play made it mandatory to use.

Now this 3rd party application.. Steam... is eating up my memory with unwanted rubbish..steamwebhelper.

I don't even want Steam, nevermind a Steam webhelper... my web is fine.

it ran before the update too as just part of the main steam application, only difference now is the main one uses less and you can see multiple processes. The people who state otherwise never watched their CPU and RAM before this. If my 6 year old 2 ghz CPU has no problem with it, and my 4 gigs of RAM has nothing hit it with no modifications on my end whatsoever, then maybe, just maybe, people are making a big fuss out of nothing, with no evidence to back it up other than their own paranoia.

Me too. I got a Steam update on Thursday or Friday, or something in there. I don't have much spare time so its hard to remember. Anyway, I can't access the Store or the Community. I cannot access anything but the Steam Library. I even have a game update that is trying to download - but it just can't get starter.

Yep. Each of these gets me a WebHelper.exe message.

As I mentioned, little spare time, so no changes to my computer, just playing a game now and then.

I'm curious to know if the steam://flushconfig fix has worked for anyone?

Edit
Nope. It was worth a shot, though the contents of config files are usually user-configurable interface settings.

Karl, yours really sounds like a firewall or AV issue. Check your rules.
Quickhand69er 17 AGO 2014 a las 18:36
If the game trying to update but wont is 7 days to die, its just that game. have to uninstall and redownload it and will fix it if that was the game.
KarlMonster 17 AGO 2014 a las 18:49
Ah. It is indeed 7 Days to Die. That tidbit needs to be added to the release notes
Like at the top, even.

However, my Firewall and AV settings haven't changed, and they *already* specified steamwebhelper.exe by name.

So. What does the BfLLR.dll module/driver do?
Silicon Vampire 17 AGO 2014 a las 18:54
That .dll appears to be part of a network driver package. Big Killer sound familiar?

That .DLL is part of Killer NIC (Bigfoot Networks, Inc.) so most likely either that file, or the associated drivers are corrupted, or you have some sort of driver related issue. Try downloading the latest drivers for that NIC and update them. Might be good idea to uninstall once u download the latest driver, then clean install the new drivers.
KarlMonster 17 AGO 2014 a las 20:56
That would be this item (from msinfo32.exe). A product of Bigfoot Networks LLC, hence the driver name. Once this model 'Killer' was superseded, it was designated Killer "M1". Both Killer Gaming and Bigfoot Networks have been absorbed into Quaalcom Atheros, which does not appear to support legacy hardware. However, rather than local driver files being corrupted, it is more likely that the updated SteamWebHelper.exe does not support FNA. Since it was Steam that made recent updates. Not I.

well, the searching i have done indicates that other programs have had errors with this .dll and by getting newest drivers fixes it in most cases.

Or maybe even try an older driver. From what I am seeing, KarlMonster has version 4.1.0.15 which is later than I the download I'm finding on various searches, which is coming up with ones like 4.1.0.144 dated May 2013

In general though I'm having trouble finding good sources to download the Killer M1 NIC drivers from. Maybe try IObit's Driver Booster and see if it can properly identify your NIC and download the correct drivers.
