How Square Enix stole my money

Hey, I just want to share with you an unveliable think that just happened to me, Im from Barcelona, Spain, currently living and studying in Tokyo, Japan. I bought Final Fantasy 7 on March 2013 and I tryied to download it but was impossible since I bought it from SE Store and I have no download link, so I decided to contact customer support and do it via chat (cus they before ignored me via mail) ant this is what happened, what do you think about it, what should I do, any TIP?

and use the download link in your previous orders.

You: There is any way to link it to Steam?

SEE Karen: The only way you can re-down;load the game is from your SE members account

SEE Karen: And if you cannot acccess that, we are unfortunately unable to assist you.

You: Why is forbbiden if im in Japan :S I have SquareEnix Main offices at 5 min from my house in Shinjuku >.<

SEE Karen: The SQEX Stores for Japan and Europe are separate

SEE Karen: and you will not be able to access the Eu Store from Japan, sorry.

You: Ah :'(

You: well hope you help me via mail later

SEE Karen: We are not allowed to distribute EU games outside of the EU.

You: last time they told me that i have to contact another company who provide game storage or something like that

SEE Karen: I will not be sedning you another email regarding this.

SEE Karen: This is the final answer from my manager

You: are you kidding me

SEE Karen: No.

SEE Karen: I have juts discussed your case with him.

SEE Karen: And provided his answer to you

You: then give me back my money maybe?

SEE Karen: That will not be possible. You purchased a EU version.

You: wow this is a joke

You: ok then thank you for nothing :S

This isn't square enix's fault. This is either European Union or Japanese laws talking right here.

Well, first, you won't get a Steam key for a game you bought on another site, unless that site or publisher says you would. Then you have something to stand on, but you would contact them about the key, not Steam.

Secondly, it actually does make sense that you would not be able to download an EU game in another country. They probably have this written somewhere. It's not just that you can't buy it, but you can't even download it.

So I think the download failure can definitely be linked to that.

And finally, because of that kind of limitation, you also should be cautious about buying digital games in Asia, in case later they can't be played in EU.

Yours is a good example of why digital games downloads is nice and convenient but it still has issues, such as when you can't play a game you have bought.

YOu bought it from Square Enix not Steam. What do you expect anyone here to do in that regard?

Note that Steam will do the same thing -- if it detects you are outside of the region the game is licensed for, it won't let you play it.
