Credit card hacked twice now after Steam purchases
Steam seriously needs to look at account security, twice now in nearly as many months I've purchased a game from Steam, and both times had my credit card compromised, not good.
I'm just posting to warn Steam primarily and others to be wary.

How are you so sure it's beacause of Steam?

Steam is fine.
Millions of users use Steam everyday, and very few complain about theft which in the end is due to them clicking (downloading) something they shouldn't have.

If you're encountering credit card theft multiple times, you need to consider removing all that nasty malware \ spyware off of your PC.

Steam isn't the source of the card compromises.

you should scan your pc for keyloggers and malware to see if that's causing it

ok, how do I know it was Steam...As said in the OP, I've had to close down two credit cards in the matter of 3 months basically. Putting 2 and 2 together, both times I purchased Steam products COH2 and the COH2 expansion, and steam products only for those months. Both times it was from the UK, the attempted hacking of my card. My bank thankfully is on the ball and warned me about my card being "pinged" and blocked any transaction as it was suspicious. As for Malware, I own a fully fledged and paid for copy of Nortons Internet security and have had ZERO problems (including any malware/keyloggers etc) EVER, go figure.

"very few" being the operative word, still happens doesn't it?

@Dakilla

It really does sound like there's malware on your pc.

Just curious … Did you use a secured personal data plan when you made these purchases out of the country? Did you ever visit a internet cafe for access?

I guarantee lol, there is no Malware on my PC, Norton's is upto date, I pay the yearly subscription and it scans and updates every day. Malware is not the issue, Steam is the issue, 2 games purchased, 2 hacks on my card from the UK.

So tell me, why after at least 500 transactions on Steam have I never had a single cent spent too much buying stuff from Steam?

It's definitely your computer.

So … that's a big "yes" to internet cafes? LOL!

While there's some link between steam and those unauthorized purchase attempts, that doesn't mean one directly caused the other. Likely, someone is grabbing your card info from your end.

P.S. That's a great bank you have to intercept those false purchases!

You cannot "guarantee" your system to be clean of Malware and virus'. Norton is notorious for being ineffective.

All of Antivirus Program update when they found new virus
if your PC attacked by a new virus that they not found your antivirus its not work

They are good, they seemingly have a department devoted to it, pick up suspicious purchases and warn you about it. On these occasions, my card was "pinged" so to speak. This has NEVER happened before, ever, and I myself have made a few online purchases over the years.

One time my friend chi accidently was looking at porno and then this crazy thing happened and he didnt realize he downloaded some bad software. He deleted everything and whiped the memory clean since his mom also uses the computer. His mom put her credit card in on sears website and also let him do steam if he mowed the lawn and walked their dog pookie. well the software stole the info and then the bad people cleaned out around 1098.23 dollars from them and also opened 2 credit card accounts. his mom blamed steam for it. it took some time but a tech found the software and we were all surprised. just telling a storie. it could be something you never knew of, perhaps a bad gf or maybe you dl something on the comp. steam usually is pretty secure
