I was searching by phone for a GameStop in my area that might have a Steam Machine demo, assuming the Steam Machine "Mini Stores" I read about would include demo stations.
I finally found a Steam Group discussion about it with pics of what the SM mini stores look like, but no demo station. It has a handful of people complaining, but I can't chime in.
I guess I should have known. It was a bad sign from the get go when Valve partnered exclusively with GameStop as a retailer, the ones largely responsible for game retail space being dominated by console. All GS have really done is taken up half of the already small PC space for SM games, consoles, and controllers.
It's looking more and more like Steam Machine will be a tough sell in an industry sadly dominated by under-built, stagnating platforms, with antiquated controllers.
