Report a translation problem
I'd agree with you on the pain of reinstalling Windows, drivers, etc. but the Arma games have previously auto-banned people's new copies if they hadn't cleared their registry down properly:

I don't know if this is still necessary now, but I wouldn't want to spend any money on new copies until I knew for sure. Perhaps the OP is better off asking the game's makers for an expert opinion?
