PC Controller Problem
Can someone please help me with my issue? I recently started using Steam and have bought and downloaded MX VS. ATV Reflex. My controller is an Alienware that is compatible with both Playstation 2 and PC. In the control panel on my computer the controller registers and works fine in the calibration test, but when I enter Reflex I can't do anything with it. Any Help would be appreciated, thank you in advance.

Is there any way to fix this?

To utilize the controller mentioned above in game you would need emulation software. There are a few differences with the input methods with ones that connect instantaneouly such as the Microsoft Xbox 360 controller (XInput) and ones that generally don't PS2/3 or other similar third party controllers that have trouble working correctly (DInput).

This can be corrected by utilizing one of the many controller emulation programs available such as Joy2Key, Xpadder etc. Google search and multiple options will be presented to you that will enable the controller to work (in most) games properly.

I hope this helps and have a nice day.

Store page says it only has partial controller support. Screw around in the menus and see if you find something that helps.

Mr. Gency is correct, this could also be a possibility that I shouldn't have surpassed. Have you tried navigating the menu with the mouse and then switching once in game? Generally speaking most partially controller suppoted games don't allow you to navigate the menu but, operate perfectly fine once in game.

Thanks for adding that Mr. Gency.

Yes, I navigate the menus with the mouse and when I begin to play the game the controller doesn't work. LordHelmet; Should I get a 360 controller or try the emulators? Thanks to the both of you.

In all honestly, I would highly recommend you purchase a wireless Xbox 360 controller for Windows which can be found easily on Amazon for fairly cheap ($39.99). It includes the controller, a usb reciever and a driver installation disk. Once the initial drivers are installed, the program will self update.

This is what I personally use when gaming with a controller and I have never encountered any issues whatsoever in the past few years. Just plug, play and forget about it. It's an incredibly responsive controller, a long lifespan and extremely durable. :spazwinky::bigups:

Also so you know they have recently released the Xbox One Controller pc drivers for the wired version if that may interest you for possible furture proofing your experience. Yet, I cannot personally recommend it's functionality as I don't own one. Regardless I thought you should know another available option.

They haven't yet released a wireless reciever that is windows certified for the Xbox One Controller and guarunteed to work quite yet but, I'm sure there will also be that solution soon enough.

If you really want a fully working game pad in a partial supported game you emulate the mouse and keyboard onto the gamepad using Joy2Key.
http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm

WSAD becomes Dpad/thumb stick. Mouse clicks become A,B,X,Y and so on.
