Steam voice chat not working

Yeah i was looking through some old forums to see if anyone else is having this same problem with steam chat where you will call someone and on your side they will not answer but on theirs they will and they have a red line on their mic and it shows that im not talking does anyone have a fix for this.

I havent changed anything from last week when it was working and when i got back from my trip it wasnt working and my friend hasnt changed anything so idk.

Hey me and a friend experience this problem as well. It hit us all of a sudden, all worked fine the day before with the exact same setups.

Anybody managed to solve this yet? Or is it a Steam related problem?

Any help would be appreciated, thx

i assume it is steams problem because it was using the basic steam setting and not getting changed and skype team speak work

I just wanted to say after two days the problem resolved itself. I guess it really was some kind of Steam problem.

Just in case anyone else experiences this problem as well.

Steam gets problems with voice if you have two instances of Steam running in your local network where you are logged in with the same accounts. Before Steam Inhome Streaming there was a warning, now there isn't.

K that might be it but i never have more than one instance of steam and i only have one computer/device that has steam on it

I'm also having this problem, My mic is turned on though, my friend said he can hear me but I can't hear him.Any ideas?

Yeah you cant fix the problem yourself from what i have seen it just has to sort its self out

I was having this issue, and I managed to solve it when I realized my other computer was on and also logged into steam. I closed out of it on the other computer, and was instantly able to connect on my main computer.

I having this issue for about 3days and more, it happen right after I swap ID with my friend and he found that the steam voice chat not working, then we swap back and the voice chat is not working after then. I told my friend that swapped ID with me to re login his own ID but that doesn't seems work. After 2days when I try to group call my friend and I found that problem still stick with me and piss me off, then I try change my damn password and re login manually after thay, cause changing password will disconnect other device that logged in with my own ID and it finally work. That's freaking annoying when you having that voice chat problem, srsly. I hope this will work on you guys too, I just hope I help out. Sorry for my broken English XD
