What happened to my steam icon?

I'm throwback, I liked my old icon more.Can I change it back? Why the change?

I dont like the new icon. I tryd to change it but all the icons + exe icons are protected if you change em to the old ones it just changes it back <.< I WANT THE OLD ONES
I also changed the skin back to the 2013 one

One way to at least get the old icon on your desktop is to right click Steam, do Properties and "change icon," and search in your Steam folder in your C drive. You'll see the old icon on an application, SteamTmp. It can then be changed to that.

However, it won't change the system tray icon to the old one. But it's a start.

Then launch Steam from that icon; once it's within the active windows section of the Taskbar, right click that large icon there and click "Pin to Taskbar" your selected icon u chose for your shortcut should be the one that remains. Then u can control Steam from that and ignore the smaller one near the clock.

There are other new visuals however in the Client itself. If u do not like these, u always have the option of using a 3rd party Steam Skin.
