Auto Download not working. [Solved]

I have items in my queue, but they're not updating.

Bought a game the other day, went away for 30mins whilst it downloaded, came back and hadn't even started because it's in the queue.

Any idea what's changed, I haven't adjusted any settings but for some reason steam is no longer auto updating and any games that need downloads just sit in the queue behind the others.

Even manually updating/pushing them to the top of the download list doesn't do anything?

what hdd do you have?
how full is it?

steam allocates space before downloading and populating the files
if the drive is slow, it will take longer to allocate the spce
or if its full/nearly full it will have a harder time creating the files

clean up some space and defrag the drive if you can

2tb hdd . . .just basic drive, but it's got about 1.2tb of space left, so not even 50% full :/

Sorted. Went to Dota 2 forums, there seems to be an update error and lots posting about it.

Incase anyone else comes here and see's this, fix is; opt in for steam client beta . . .then it auto updates and resumes downloads. If you want to opt out again (I did), do so and the downloads will still continue.
