Fix your laggy UI on Big Picture Mode
My UI for Steam Big Picture Mode has been very laggy from day one for controller, mouse and keyboard and has really drove me crazy. I'm talking about the response time for a mouse click, scrolling and game trailers to buffer etc. I have an above average internet connection and a computer with plenty of horsepower so I knew the problem wasn't on my end.
After looking online I see that this has been an on-going issue for a lot of people over the years so I dug deeper into how the Steam client is written and found that there is a simple fix for this.

I have Windows 8.1 installed, but I think this option is auto enabled going back to Xp.
Go to: Control Panel> Internet Options> Connections> LAN Settings
**uncheck" Automatically Detect Settings
8.1 users can just search Internet Properties> Connections> LAN and uncheck auto detect

Problem solved. Much more pleasurable experience for me now. I have to add though, if you are on a proxy server doing this will most likely cause you to loose your connection so you will have to set up your proxy.

If this works for some of you guys, I'll post it on other forums.

I know this is SUPER old, but thank you. This didn't completely solve my issue but it's a night and day difference.
