Publisher Unknown?
Recently I got a new system and it has a different OS than my old one. Now when I tried to play the Wolf Among Us I get a pop up window from steamservice.exe wanting to change something, though it's telling me that the publisher of it is unknown. In turn I clicked no and it still started up the game. It has bothered me later on in the day because it's doing so for Unturned and Payday as well. The Forest however doesn't do that, it just starts right up. Probably because it's still in development, but when I do a scan on the steamservice it shows it has no threats whatsoever too. Is this cause for concern? Or is it just the OS switch that has caused this?? Because I don't see how the other specs could make this happen. Insight on this would be very much appreciated :)

When I compared the steamservice to one of my friends they have a .exe at the end of it while mine doesn't have that and wants me to run as administrator while his does not. It is as well a lower version than the one he has. I don't know what to think of this but it's beginning to annoy me as I can't find anything to combat or fix it so far. Again help would be much appreciated

You really should use an admin instead of a limited account but it's up to you.

What OS are you using and which one did you come from?

Did you do a clean install or did you just upgrade?

How would I do that? I'm the only account on my computer and it says i'm the admin but there are some things I am still unfamiliar with if this is the case. I came from a Windows 7 Home Premium to just Windows 7 Professional. A downgrade I know but the system had an I7 processor and I was in a need for a better one to make the best out of my gpu. Although I hope I don't sound stupid but are you talking about the installing or upgrading of the system? Or Steam itself??

If yours is the only user/account on the computer then you are most likely an admin

The system itself basically did you install the Win 7 Pro in a manner that wiped out everything else so just the OS was installed then you had to either restore stuff from a back up or redownload it. I'm familiar with complications that arise on upgrades but not so much when switching between Win 7 versions

It seems like a Steam issue so I would try flushing Steam's files so it rebuils itself, or repair Steam through the installer, and if not back up your games and fully uninstall and reinstall it.

I see. It was a fresh install rather than an upgrade though, when I got the system I just got it set up and turned it on. Setting up a new computer straight out of the box. No inserting of OS discs or the like in the drives either. It just came with the OS already, new everything. I didn't back up the stuff from my old hard drive so I was just going to reinstall all my games while doing something else during the day. I was thinking it could be a Steam issue too because of no threats whatsoever, plus when I try to delete it from the system or hover over it it tells me the company is indeed Valve Corporation. What should I flush from it? The steamservice itself or the bin that it resides in? It is an 64-bit system by the way so it is in files x86

Is your copy of Windows completely up to date (including WMP and IE)?

If you're talking about Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer than I believe I can say yes. I did what you were talking about and it gave me the option to log back into Steam. I didn't do so and just followed on with the rest of the instructions. I haven't tested if a game that does the pop up yet but I will in a sec

I'll give the administrator run a test amongst other things if needed. I have 16 gb of ram and hopefully that isn't the cause. I actually saw this link earlier while I was researching but for some reason it wouldn't let me load the page up until now. It sucked not being able to read it considering it was the most specific and possibly one of the few only solutions with help right at the name of it. I really am thankful for your help though dude, this was slowly driving me insane

No problem I couldn't access it either so I pulled up Google's cached version.

I debunked this whole problem to it being the OS. The problem is since it wasn't manually installed it's integrated with the hard drive. And it does an hexadecimal formatting error like it mentioned in that link you sent me. I can't do a system restore since this system is pretty much brand new and I can't find that repair tool it mentioned either. This is some bull but oh well. Again I thank you for the help, you did offer me the insight I needed in this problem of mine and it is greatly appreciated :)
