Steam Beta - Invalid Depot Config (many game updates refuse to download / process)

Anyone else having issues with the latest Steam Beta (the one where they rolled out the Steam music player)? Ever since I installed it, it seems to work okay except for one major detail: many games refuse to update properly, particularly those from the Total War series (Rome 2, Medieval 2, Rome 1).

I recently tried to force the update by running the game and got the Invalid Depot Config error. Only way I've been able to fix this error is to revert to the non-beta version of steam.

Running steam://flushconfig also did not fix my issue.

I'm fairly certain the issue is not on my end. Along with the aforementioned attempts to solve this problem I also reset the steam directory (deleting everything except /steamapps and steam.exe). So far nothing has worked. Any suggestions or word on this issue?

Nope, it seems like a known issue but as of yet unfixed. So far the only game(s) that refuses to update are the original Total War games, Rome 1 which recently received another update.

The only workaround I know is to revert to regular steam, update the games in question and go back to beta.
