Did I just fall for a scam? (Steam Gift Card)

I used this site. I was surprised that it didnt seem to work in Google Chrome. I couldn't seem to get all the functions to work so I used Internet Explorer. This was the top site in Google that showed up.

I was startled after I ordered a gift card to get an e-mail within minutes asking for further verification. The correct $$ has already been deducted ($50). Direct quote:

Actaully reading your options I do not see how any of them can harm you..First option they get a picture of you. 2nd they get your name and phone number ( not much they can do with those ). 3rd option do not do. This is the most dangerous. The purchase might be not to legit. But what they are asking you to do is not harmful to you.

I received 2 gift cards codes this way from family for birthday. The method seemed really fishy to me at first glance, but I got valid codes which I successfully added to my wallet with no problems. I agree that they do all this manual verification to protect themselves as a business from scammers.
