Uplay Library Sharing
So I bought Assassins Creed Unity on a disc and I can activate it on Uplay but not Steam. So I go through the settings on both and all I could find is a share games option on Uplay which does who knows what because I clicked it and I still can't see Assassins Creed Unity in my library on Steam. So I cant get Steam achievements and I can't use Steam for the multiplayer. So maybe Steam should get in touch with Ubisoft and do something about it? Or maybe their is something I missed. I don't want to add it as a non-steam game though.

That's Ubisoft's decision. They want people to use Uplay for their games instead of Steam because they get more money that way.

because it is making it harder for everyone to enjoy things on one easy to use platform.

Thats why there are 2 versions of each UBISOFT game. One that runs on Steam and one that only runs on UPLAY. If you want to have the Steam stuff like achievments and so on you need to buy the Steam version and not the UPLAY one.
Simple as that. It would be the same if you buy a game on ORIGIN or GOG.
All retail versions of Ubisoft games you can buy are always UPLAY only.
If you want the Steam version you have to buy it directly on Steam which is most of the time more expensive.
