Max Blue and Max Pink Guide for Karambits and M9's

Hey guys, working very hard for weeks, the guide is finally here! After the community had been very confused and not sure whether or not their knives were maxes, we decided to make this guide! All the pinks and blues will be ranked in different tiers, Tier 1 Being the best, Tier 2 being the worst!

This guide will for sure change the way we look at max pinks and max blues guys!

KARAMBIT Doppler P4’S

Tier 1

So first off, these are the Tier 1 Patterns for the Karambit Max Blues. These are single-handedly the best kind of patterns, and are easily the rarest. As you can see, the backside does not have a “black” tip. Also the light blue on the backside is practically centered on the knife. It is also at a horizontal angle. Not diagonal like tier 3’s (Read on to understand what i mean).

Tier 2

Next up we have the Tier 2 patterns. These patterns will have a “black” tip on backside, but, it will be veryyyy minimal. Also the light blue on backside is at a horizontal angle, but it is not as centered to the middle of the knife like a tier 1. It is still below the corner on backside though. These are the “average” patterns.

Tier 3

Now, these are the “worst” max blue patterns. These patterns have a bigger “black” tip on backside. Also the light blue on backside is not horizontal. It’s more diagonal. And it is by no means near the center of the blade! BTA Tier 3’s are somewhat tricky. Read on.

BTA Tier 3

Now, these are the BTA Tier 3’s, or Better than average. These knives are still tier 3 knives, but they have some characteristics of a tier 2. There are 2 defining characteristics. One of them is that the light blue on backside can be horizontal instead of diagonal. ( http://s.metjm.net/Y4QlGoz.jpg ) < Like this. It will still have a massive “black” tip on backside though. The other characteristic is that the “black” tip on backside will be small like the tier 2’s, but the light blue is diagonal. ( http://s.metjm.net/hozl3eS.jpg ) A BTA TIER 3 CANNOT SHOW BOTH OF THESE CHARACTERISTICS AT THE SAME TIME!

Non-Max Blues

These knives are obviously non-max blues. Their backside tips have way too much black and there is barely any light blue on backside as well! Very easy to tell :D

M9 Doppler P4’S

Tier 1

The tier 1 patterns for the M9 P4 Max Blues are the best kind of patterns. The Light blue on playside near the tip is centered over the hole, and there is no black on tip. Also the black band is centered on the blade! This makes it a tier 1 pattern!

Tier 2

These are the tier 2 patterns for the M9 Max Blues. This pattern has no black on the tip of course. But the light blue near tip is not over the hole. But, the black band is centered on the blade on playside!

Tier 3

Tier 3 Patterns are the “worst” of the max blue patterns. All of the light blue on playside is on the tip itself. And the black band is not centered anymore, instead it is much closer to the hole. Of course there is no black tip!

Non-Max Blues


These are the non-max blue M9’s. These have a very visible tip on playside. No light blue near the hole/tip. Very easy to tell if it's a non max.

Tricky Non Max


These non max blues are sort of tricky. The black tip on playside is very small, you can overlook it if not careful. But if you look closely you can see the black tip!

Max Pink Band (Tier 1)

Pink band on max pink is very rare. You must be wondering ‘how the hell do you even see pink band on the max pink? It is same colour and my answer would be ‘Yes it's similar colour but the shade of colour is different’ It has more overall percentage(>95%) of pink than max pink and has 100% thick pure pink strip on a blade which doesn’t have purple like regular max pink. Few pink collector said that Max pink bands are only true max pink but most of reddit won’t agree on it since they are used to regular max pinks.(I would edit it if people starts to agree with this) I will update the pattern index for this one since few people can define true max pink band. As a note: This guide consists of Old and New Max Pink Band pattern indexes

Max Pink (Tier 2)

Beforehand , I would like to say something. There is no such thing as a perfect and literally 100% pink. But max pink defines ‘almost full pure pink (>90%)’ and few % of purples If you look at the doppler phase 2 carefully, you can see pinks but between those shades of pinks, there are little bit of purples. People often makes mistake between black and purple in doppler phase 2. Also this is the reason why people often make mistake to call their knife as max pink when it is not actually a max pink. So let’s take a look at the examples :

Look at this beauty. There are no blacks, only purples and pinks. This is max pink because we can see there are large amount of pink and small amount of purples.

Take a another look at this example. There are bunch of purples and some amount of pinks. But this is not a max pink because the percentage of pink less than what we expect to see in max pink.

This is a tricky example. Pinks are splattered around the blade and it seems like it’s a max pink. Also they are few purple between the gap of the splattered pinks. But this is not max pink because you can’t clearly see large paint of pink anywhere and there already too much purple .

Everything looks fine on this one except one thing. On right side of the blade, you see a big paint of purple and black. Obviously this is considered as ‘almost max pink’ since it is few percentage off from the max pink.

Well , this is max pink since it covers 90% of blade with pink and has few percentage of purples. There is nothing much to say about this and simple pattern for regular max pink.

Pink Claw (Tier 3)

Poor Man’s Fire and Ice ( http://imgur.com/a/r2vjt ) is doppler phase 1’s special pattern. It would be really surprising for everyone that there are actually alternative version of Poor Man’s Fire and Ice which is called Pink Claw (Oxiclean came up with this name). But Pink Claw has a lot of pinks and little bit of dark blue/purple. Just think it has dragon claw of blue gem but it has pink instead of blue.

M9 Bayonet Doppler Phase 2


Tier 1

Tier 1 M9 Max Pink Patterns are the best kind of patterns for an m9. This pattern will ALWAYS Have the pink at the tip go past the hole. It must hit at least the first tooth to be tier 1 max pink! It also obviously has the brown in the middle of the knife, with pink at the bottom!

Tier 2

Tier 2 M9 Max Pink Patterns are the 2nd best kind of patterns for a Max Pink M9. The Pink at the tip will be barely below the hole on playside. It won’t have centered brown, but the pink at the base will be higher up the blade, considering there is less pink at the tip!

Tier 3

Tier 3 M9 Max Pink Patterns are the “worst” kind of patterns for a m9 max pink. Now the pink is barely at the tip. There is no pink at the hole area, and there is no centered brown. Most of the pink is at the middle of the knife!

Non-Max Pink

These M9’s are non-max pinks. These have 0 pink at the tip, all of the pink is in the middle of the blade. Very easy to tell!
