SteaScree: Steam Cloud Screenshot Uploader
Hey guys, a lot of us faced the notorious "Steam Cloud may be temporarily unavailable" error when trying to upload screenshots taken outside of Steam in-game overlay or even outside Steam at all. There are plenty of guides how to avoid this error and get the job done, but they are typically complicated and now even involve some Python/PowerShell/batch scripts.
I've just released a tool SteaScree, it is built with Qt, have a graphical interface, and is cross-platform and open-source, to achieve just this — uploading arbitrary screenshots to the Steam Cloud. The source code is available on GitHub[github.com].

Installers, screenshot of the SteaScree itself and a little description are here: https://steascree.download/

Feel free to try it and report back if you find this tool useful (or not). If there are any issues, post them here, or even better in the Issues section[github.com] on GitHub.

You can even join the Steam group, so your friends could learn about this app, too.

I just use Windows Defender included with Windows 10 and feel cool. For anything else there are Process Explorer, Autoruns, GlassWire and VirusTotal. And free Kaspersky Rescue Disk for occasional full-disk scans at night.

Didn't knew VLC is able to upload screenshots to the Steam Cloud.

Rename the VLC .exe to anything you want, add it as a non-Steam game, run it, open the screenshot in VLC, make it full screen and press F12.

Oh, that's a really tricky way to do this. But it's great if it works good for you.

I'm definitely going to give your tool a bash, especially if it makes uploading easier. :)

Well, compared to the way you explained, it definitely makes it easier.

Hello guys. I just found a way to upload screenshots withouth problems. Follow the steps below and everything will work just fine:

1.Install VLC media player on your computer
2.After you installed VLC -> Open Steam Client
3.Go to Games-> Add a Non-Steam game to my library -> Selec VLC media player from the list and press "Add selected program"
4.Open VLC media player -> Media -> Open File.. -> Select All files (*) -> Choose your desired jpg and press upload.
5.Make VLC player full screen and press pause ( VLC will run image for 10 seconds so you have enough time to make it full screen and pause)
6.Press F12 (specific steam overlay screenshot key) to make a screenshot

And that's how i've done and it worked. At least for me. Try it out..maybe it will work.

Best of luck guys! :)

Yeah, but you may want to upload a bunch of old screenshots all at once. VLC can't do that. But still, this is useful trick indeed.

I just wanted to help ppl out there. I imagine it's not a great fix, but still..it allows you to upload a few screenshots. Hope you found it helpful. Best regards.

And what you also wouldn't can do with VLC is to upload screenshots to the Steam games. VLC-method is non-Steam games only.

I have screenshots for a non-Steam version of Infinite Warfare that refuse to upload. They show up in the manager, but that's it.

Backup these screenshots. Remove them from the Screenshot Uploader. Then add them via SteaScree.

The program Blender is a steam game for a long time, the big problem of it is not being able to take screenshot with the program running! I wonder if your tool can help me in any way ??
