Send a Letter Refund: "The game didn't match the videos and screenshots"
I was told by Steam Support to write a letter into their legal department.

Valve Corporation
Attn: Legal Department
P.O. Box 1688
Bellevue, WA 98009
USA

Has anyone already attempted this? Curious to know if writing in a letter to Steam actually resulted in a refund.

The Trailers/Videos and Screenshots on the Steam Store page literally do not match the game (with no disclaimer of "Not Actual Gameplay" on them); and while this is an actual 'Reason' to request a refund via Steam Support... apparently they won't honor it and ask you to write in?

I'm still fighting the battle to get my refund on the grounds of Misleading and False Advertising. We all know there's hard evidence of misleading informaiton all over the place; enough for any kind of court of law.

TL;DR -- Has anyone written into the legal department to get a Refund; if so, how did it go?

Just check the refund policy.

I have; and so did Steam Support, and that's why they asked me to send in a letter. I'm just looking to see if anyone else has/had and the result. Thanks!

Just send your letter. I've seen a lot of posts explaining that the refund was denied. This game has been the second that made massive refunds requests, after Batman Arkham Knight. That game was bad programmed, so they made a special refund request exception. NMS runs well, just saying...
I wish you Luck!

Funny you mention that... I never had a problem with Batman Arkham Knight (PC). Still though, deceptive advertising is illegal; no matter how you butter the toast.

Like what do you put in that kind of letter? "Hi, you might know me from... "? I can't exactly add in HREF's or anything. Probably just a print out of the Support Ticket eh... with some extremely easy to find evidence? heh heh

I have no idea; why are there? Why are there so many people that when they see a VAC Ban on a profile they instantly assume that person is A) A Troll and B) Was Cheating?

Great story on my VAC Ban, you're welcome to listen. It's an amazing Ice Breaker. (Note: Look at the time/year of that Ban - Do the math and you can put it together) Cheers Internet Person!

Seeing as you want to go the dirty route. Why are there so many people hiding their profile? Afraid that mommy is gonna find out how much you play? Or want to hide your play time from your friends so they can't see how much you actually play instead of going out with them?

If you are gonna accuse people of being trolls, you should remove your hide profile which is most likely the first step you learn when attending the troll school. Try to learn from those that graduated the school, you'll find two of the most common posters on this forum with hidden profiles and believe in conspiracy theories and labeling everything haters in any given thread.

Good luck with your letter, [VA]Strikes. I doubt it happens that often that people actually go to that length to get a refund and hey, you might get a refund because they don't want to put in more time explaining why your refund is denied. Better get it over with.
More than welcome to give us an update though.

The only reason to write a letter to the legal department is if you're taking or going to take legal action. In which case, the smart thing to do is to get a lawyer to draft it. Good luck finding one who will work for less than the amount you expect to recover.

@[VA]Strikes

Well since you are a developer yourself and your game for many people was not matching expectations made by advertisement I can remember the whole team was split because of that and you had to start again from scratch to create a DLC.

I, for example, was one who liked Adventurer Manager very much and was defending your work in forums and my review.

(btw when your game was released "refunds" did not even exist)

But I love NMS and whatever many people say about it, for me it was exactly as advertised.

Please go make another game and stop bashing other people's creative work in a public forum.
If you want to get your assumed right find it silently in a letter to Steam.

As Washell has indicated if they are asking you to write in to their legal department either you told them you were going to pursue legal action or they are making it clear nothing short of at least potential legal action is going to make them provide you a refund (so you must have been harassing them quite a lot about it).

If you do intend to pursue this through legal channels I would recommend you get a lawyer as Washell suggested.

Because that's exactly what it means, one was caught cheating. What do you think it means?
