My timezone is wrong; how do I fix it?
Steam thinks the time is one hour ahead of what it actually is. This adversely affects things like event setup. How do I fix it?

Set the timezone on your PC right.

It is already correct. It is GMT + 8:00, Kuala Lumpur (DST not applicable)

Steam has no time zone reference in the client. It's purely referencing the system clock

Why do you think it's "wrong"

Two things:

The time of updates to the workshop display one hour ahead of what they should be.

When I set up an event, it alerts people one hour before it should.

I told you already, that means that the time zone setting on your PC is wrong.

It isn't; I've checked it. I believe Steam might be applying DST corrections when it shouldn't.

If this is a bug then you should post some screenshots. Please take a screenshot of your timezone settings on your pc.
Maybe take a screenshot of the problem area also, you said event setup? You mean via the browser in steam? Or in your external web browser? Try both and see if they are different.

What if you use steam chat in the client with timestamps? Compare with the timestamps in the web chat: https://steamcommunity.com/chat/

Is your PC set to Kuala Lumpur specifically? And not another +8 that does observe DST?

You're right. Im sorry for essentially being a jerk to you. Its just that on this forum, its better not to underestimate the stupidity of some people, they'll stick to the wrongest story possible as if their lives depended on it.

Via the browser in Steam. If I use an external web browser, I'm *always* forced to verify via email because it says it's a "new" browser / client. It's rather frustrating.

The timestamps in the Steam chat appear to be correct. I think it's only public-facing stuff that is wrong.

If you don't delete cookies then you should stay logged in. Anyway its worth doing once for a test right?

What about the chat timestamps? Are they correct in the client?
EDIT: Great!

Now just test the non-steam browser.
