Steam + Mouse acceleration
Hi all

I built a new system and went with a clean install of Win 10 (1607) 64 bit OS and of course re-installed Steam as well since new SSD.

Now I'm having an issue with my mouse and Steam. Basically, what is happening is everytime I open the Steam Client, my mouse gets accelerated to about 3-5 times its speed and only way for me to stop it is to shut down Steam and reboot my computer which is extremely bad and annoying.

Add to that of course any games I use from steam or any app I open while Steam is open are affected as well.

I had this happen to me before, and there is a setting or ini edit somewhere to disable this "Steam Mouse Acceleration" but since this is not something I reinstall often I completely forgot where or what it was to fix this.

Also tried google but couldn't find what I need, everything that came up via google was for individual games running on or launched via Steam, not Steam and the fixes provided were for the games, not the Steam client so not applicable to me.

I went through all the settings / options and just don't see any "disable mouse acceleration" functions.

So how do I disable this mouse acceleration in Steam thing ?

Uninstall the mouse software that surely is installed on your system.

There is no such thing as a Steam mouse acceleration as Steam itself does not do anything with your mouse.
It's most likely your mouse driver causing the issue.

I have installed, uninstalled mouse and k/b drivers multiple times including downloads of older versions and running purely on the generic microsoft drivers. Currently, I am back on the latest version of setpoint as my mouse + kb are generic USB Logitech. And yes, did full reg and dir sweeps from safe mode so there are no leftovers.

And you guys are incorrect, this has been around for many years and I have seen it happen to people throughout history of existance of Steam every now and then through various systems, OSes etc. In addition, again, I have had this happen before, and I had a note with the fix for it, it was steam, but unfortunately I missed the directory I kept those notes in at some point while changing systems and OS and now I can't find it again.

Was kinda hoping to get someone that is actually familiar with these things and has some more advanced technical knowledge rather then folks giving out waiter level advice to update drivers and reboot computer.

Uninstall set point all together

SetPoint? That still exists? I thought Logitech switched to the GamingSoftware years ago.
