How do I "Gift" a game to my Steam Friend?
I know about the family share thing, but I just want to give a couple games to my friends.
How do I do it? Thanks

Are the games from your library or are you planning to buy them? If they are from your library, they are non-transferrable. Games you buy are giftable

Buy the game in the steam store, at the end choose "buy as a gift". Then the game it placed inside your inventory and you can gift it to your friends.

No, I mean games I already own. More like a trade with nothing exchanged.

You can't transfer games from your library to other accounts.

That is not possible. Once a game has been activated its forever bound to your account and can never be traded, gifted or sold.
If you want to gift a game to a friend you have to buy it again like described in this thread.

How do people do Trades then if the games are non-transferrable? Also, I just read a huge explaination of rule changes and waiting periods when SELLING games at "the Marketplace?" Selling them seems like a form of Transfer to me. Que NO?

They buy a game as a gift from the Steam Store, store it in their inventory, and wait out the initial 30 days.

They buy the games as a gift for their inventory and not for their library. Those inventory copies can be traded like already explained.

I apologize if I'm being retarded about this, but I REALLY don't understand the concept of Trading or Selling here, I guess. Why would anybody buy a game just to sell it without ever having played it. And who would want to buy it from me when they could just buy it on Steam and not wait 30 days. How are Hackers stealing games from peoples accounts and selling them if they are non-transferrable?

Again I apologize. I'm not TRYING to act dumb. I just can't understand what people are buying, selling and trading if it's not from their own Library.

For example, if someone bought a game during the sales, and it's now max price. They can make a bit of 'profit' by trading it for more keys (in worth) than what they originally paid for the game.

As for the "hackers" -line. It's more about in-game items like CS:GO's and such; than Steam Gifts.

Its pretty simple. Say there is a sale for a game. The game is 50% off for a while. Traders then buy copies of the game for their inventory at that lower price. Later when the game price has returned to normal they often trade the game with someone who wants it in exchange for a game they themself want. Only trading like that inside the steam trading system is allowed.
Selling of Steam Gifts for money is actually against the steam TOS and forbidden.
There are people who still do that and sell those gifts on shady key reseller sites for real money but if Steam gets wind of that your account is pretty much guranteed to be suspended.

Also, hackers cant steal games. They can at max transfer games that are stored as gifts in the inventory to another account but games that are in the library cant be transfered or "stolen".
