Icons for Non-Steam Games
I added Daggerfall to my Steam Library and I am trying to find out what format or any little edit that will give me the same old original Icon in my Steam Library. I got one to work but unfortunately it has this ugly white spacing to fill out the rest of the 32x32 pixel size. I am hoping to get some help on how to get the "transparency" back to display when I see it through Steam.

Thanks

You will need to save the image as a png file or use a png version of the image for the transparency to work.

I personally use Paint.net to make images/convert images to png to save the transparency and its completely free to use.
It is odd, as I do save it as a .png...but it expressly tells me I will lost the transparency if I save it. So I am rather lost on what to do next... :(

What programme are you using to save it? Maybe there is an option as you are saving it that for some reason disables transparency somewhere in the programme. Not sure why it would disable it otherwise?

Maybe you could google the particular image you need with transparency and use that instead?
I have tried Googling it as well. Kind of hard to find an Icon for a game that is like 20 years old. I use Paint as well. Not sure if the Paint.net you mentioned is a different verison or just a typing error.

Paint.net is different to Paint. If im not mistaken the base program Paint might not actually support transparency which would explain why its not saving correctly.

The program i use is literally called Paint.net its free to download and use i highly recommend it. I find that it is probably on par with photoshop when you learn how to use it properly.

Okay, is Paint.net free? Seems like that would solve my issue.

Does that save transparency? Cause that is kind of what I want...it is annoying and rather unsightly with that box. >.<

Okay cool. Does it change file types to png as well? I think .ico files are what is messing Steam up as it doesn't recognize those for some odd reason.
maybe this is icon you want The-Elder-Scrolls-chapter 2[icons.iconarchive.com]
and yah its png editor so it do save in png format.

Sounds like that will do the job although i have never used that site myself before. I would still reccomend Paint.net if you make/edit images often enough. I use Paint.net for literally everything from custom 1024x1024 textures for custom mods/maps in games to thumbnails on youtube, outros, twitter banners and so on.

I saw that...and I very much do not what it. Nice but I want the old retro one. Brings back the nostalgia of late nights as a kid playing my first Elder Scrolls game. lol. I was a real challenge for the Search Engine not to turn that one up lol

I will grab it for future use if it is free lol. Thanks
