Steam Asking For Auth Code...

And the funny thing is, it's asking for the code on the device that it's supposed to give to code to! What the actual hell? How am I supposed to give it the code when I can't even login to the app to see the code? No I didn't change the number, the app just updated yesterday and now it wants me to log back in, which I can't. I should also mention that it is a Windows Phone!

When adding the phone number, yeah, which you're required to add if you intend to add the mobile authenticator.

However, if you've already added the phone number, then you're not going to get a SMS code, not even if you re-set the mobile authenticator.

In this case, OP shouldn't have been logged out, and even if they were logged out, they should be able to log back in on the same device without the authenticator code.

I don't own a Windows Phone, but if this happened on my Android, I'd try clear the app's cache (not data), and reboot my phone and see if there's any difference to its behavior.

This sounds like a job for the recovery code.

I fixed it by removing my auth code via sms and re-adding it. This guide was really helpful:
