4X/Strategy Game
I'm a Civ V lover and am looking for another 4X to scratch the itch. What i love about Civ V is how you can play the game developing a nation and win without having to build a giant army. I play as peaceful as possible and love the race to build and progress and develop as efficiently as I can while building enough units to fend off an attack. There were different strategies from one game to the next too with the different win conditions, not just build the biggest army and dominate like most others.

Most other 4x games are focused around war. And thats not necessarily a bad thing if they had any strategic depth to them. The reason Civ combat sucks is becaue its so incredibly tedious to move an army of units across the map turn....by.....turn to take over a city. I played Fallen Enchantress and love love the combat there. But I can't stand how the development and management of cities/your empire is. ICS in any 4x game is tedious for me and FE takes ICS to the next level. I always played Tall in Civ and strongly prefer to manage less but more powerful cities/armies in any 4X because as the games go deeper and you have 11 cities to give build orders, those turns go SLOW. Falllen Enchantress is impossible to play unlcess you ICS all game which is tedious for me.

Does anyone have a recomendation for a 4x, roguelike, strategy, rpg, or some kind of game with actual strategic depth that isn't focused on just building a giant army, and doesn't require infinite city span? I don't mind micromanagement, I just want to micromanage things that matter like a giant capital city instead of 5 secondary cities with only a granary in them. When I play Tall, I get attached to my cities and try to grow them perfectly...you can't do that when you ICS.

Yes I hate ICS. Rant over. Any reccomendations?
