Does Razer Cortex actually work?

Well, I remember using it daily, until once it did something with the connection to my keyboard and I had to restart both razer and cs:go, and got a 1 day ban for not logging in-time.

boost your pc, but when i used it i haven't encountered an fps boost

Using software to improve performance is snake oil. It MAY work but only for treating symptoms. Everyone with half a brain knows that problems should be addressed at the root cause and not symptoms. Heck, even most doctors treat causes and not (only) symptoms.

For the OP:
That's not optimizing,that's cleaning up. If the PC runs slow because background (or foreground) programs hog resources, the solution is not another program. The solution is less programs. That is uninstalling stuff one doesn't really need.
