Games don't run off my second hard drive
So I bought a new computer, my os is installed on my solid state drive while I set steam up on my second hard drive but whenever I click play Steam shows im playing for a second but then just stops no error or anything.

I assume something isnt set up correctly. Any help would be appreciated.

Have your tried to run another game from your SSD? That will narrow out if it really is because of the second hard drive

Does Steam need to be on the same drive the games themselves are installed in? I'll have to install some other game on the SSD and test that.

I dont see any problem with that as long as steam knows where to start the game

I can take screenshots of like how its set up in settings or whatever if it helps.
If you want your games on a second hard drive when installing a game on the install window you will see a drop down box in the drop down box chose new steam folder on drive d or something like that when the tree view comes up click on make a new folder name it Steam hit enter after naming it. Click on the newly created folder and then click next your game will now install on d or what ever drive letter you chose.

Yeah doing that will make sure steam knows where the games are

That is how i install my games on my second hdd. Then after the first game is installed to the other hdd steam will make that defualt till you chose a new drive then that new drive will be default.

Like my d drive is a 2 tb drive its full of steam games so now im working on another 2 tb drive and its half way full.

I figured it out. Apparently some of the game files didnt download correctly because I needed to validate a couple of files. The linking the game to the second drive I did do correctly because after it worked. Thanks anyway though guys appreciate it =)

I'm having a similar issue. Just to make sure I understand, you got the games to work from the 2nd HD after verifying the game files? ty for any response.

You just need a library folder assigned to the drive. Beware that external drives are not supported on anything but SteamOS because the client cannot control what path the drive gets mounted on.
