Confirm is stuck as B and cancel as A in menus/big picture

Somehow, my confirm/cancel buttons got swapped, despite my configuration shows A as confirm and B as cancel. I noticed the Nintendo button configuration was ticked somehow and unchecked it, but it didn't help, even after restarting steam and even my whole system. I have no idea how to fix this.

I noticed it first after installing Control Ultimate Edition and having the same problem. I did copy over the Control directory from my steam deck before installing so I wouldn't waste bandwidth, but I don't see how that would break Steam's whole config.

Big picture mode, look it's reversed,
so either i must swap the buttons around or steam needs to fix the global layout

Mine just did the same thing after the latest update. still haven't been able to fix it.

Yeah, I just opted out of beta before checking back, and it fixed the problem. It was annoying, because not only was Big Picture mode broken, but it breaks games, too. Fired up Control Ultimate Edition for the first time and A and B were swapped.

Im using ps5 controller, it was bugged too.

IF you want to keep Beta
When you look in steam beta controllers could be mapped as you wanted it now,
vs. without beta on;
so that option itself is what caused the turnaround,
Even though Accept -which was A - became B;
it was the new defining of the controller that made this specific patch cause this, AND you can reverse map them back to get it working as you wanted,
