Cant join any type of multiplayer in steam games because of windows defender firewall
Hi, I've been experiencing issues with joining my friends' multiplayer servers in several games, with the main ones being stick fight and terraria, which are the only ones i checked, but i do suspect the other ones will have the same problem too.
In Terraria, what happens is that when i try to join a friend the game freezes up on found server and refuses to load. I've done some research and concluded that my issue is something other than the standard ''port 7777 being used by something else''. So how can i fix this?
With Stick Fight, the game makes it clearer what the issue is, since it literally shows text saying ''no connection to the host could be made, check your firewall or connection''(or something like that)
Please help me this has killed my days and nights because i've not been able to game with the bois.
All help is appreciated, but please make the answers and explanations clear, because i kinda hope this post might help someone with the same issues in the future.

If your computer plugs directly into your internet service device and that itself plugs directly into the wall then its not a port forwarding issue, but then you are exposed to any traffic that comes through that box.
If your computer plugs into a router(or uses wifi) and then connects to your service device then you may need to configure port forwarding.
However this only matters if someone is trying to connect to a server on YOUR box.
incoming requests for port 7777 from the internet should be routed to... one of the machines in your house at any port(possibly 7777).
If you're trying to JOIN someone's hosted game then none of that matters and you have things to solve on your computer and/or on your friend's computer who is doing the hosting(and perhaps they need to set up port-forwarding on their end).

Ok, but what do i need to fix? Cause i already did port forwarding and it didn't do anything, plus, my friends have no issues with joining other people, they only have issues with either joining me or with me joining them.
