Report a translation problem
Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > select your controller and if available for it, Define Layout would be next to Calibration button.
See if its mapped correctly.
2. Test with Xbox Configuration Support disabled (also found at the Controller Settings screen)
If the overlay works with the game then this setting shouldn't matter.
3. Right-click the game in the Steam Library > Properties > Controller > select Disable Steam Input if it says for the Xbox: Enabled, set by the developer.
This is so the inputs aren't undergoing possible configuration.
