Steam disconnects PC from internet when downloading games

Like title says, every time I try to download a game, I can't do anything else on my pc without it disconnecting it from the internet. for example, I try to download apex, it will run fine but as soon as I go into discord or play a different game, it will D/C my pc from the internet. I have to leave my pc completely alone for it to download normally. It doesn't kill my entire internet, just my PC's connection to it. I've looked around the internet, but nothing matches exactly what I am experiencing. any tips? origin, blizzard, and other clients work fine and I can multitask while downloading games. this issue is exclusively with steam.

Is the PC connected over Wifi or cable based Ethernet to your PC?
Have you tried limiting your download speed? Steam can rather aggressively hog the bandwidth.

Im connected directly to the modem with a cable. As far as bandwith, I dont believe that is the issue? because it will download at full speed just fine if I don't open anything else on my pc. Just today I gave it another try. It downloaded just fine for 10 minutes. I opened up my ps2 emulator to try and play a game and it instantly D/C my pc from the internet. the emulator doesnt even use internet data. I've recreated this problem with discord and other apps on my pc. Its weird.

NO you network is doing something not following network standard, and thats how it poisen then line to you, its simple network protocol that protect itself.

so whatever is going on between you and maybe into own ISP is the problem.

this is from Netcard driver to router and its software and yes even cable or pc ( anything that dont work as it should. )

proof is 3minute disconnect from internet and then network is back. ( tecknician know this as poisen reversed ) some use word like line termination or shootdown for problem on the connections, i guess it depend on how old info on the subject you read it.

you might connect to steam, but its the network protocol that see things not work as it should.
ask own ISP they should know this and might help you, normal they dont like such interruptions of standard network traffic. as i said normaly ISP help but sametime not with user own hardware only the line to it.
