Elite Dangerous - Won't Start After Update 13

Also ..... can't raise the issue on the game forums because they banned me (for nothing) and the support ticket directs me to them.

Utterly lousy customer service from both Steam and FDev - treating a paying customer like this.

Why don't you or they lift the ban so I can get help for the frigging game! You know, that I frigging paid for? Like, what I was using the forum for before I got kicked out for no justifiable reason.

Now I can't play at all it just keeps telling me Up Date Required and asking me to change the settings in Properties > Updates to High Priority or something.

Any ideas anyone how to fix this?

I looked on FDev's website and I'm going round in circles trying to find a support page or even a forum.

Even if you were somehow confused by their home page. Which again would be very difficult to imagine. You could simply google

"elite dangerous support"

The TOP link is to their support page

I'm seriously done with this game and this company - wasted so much of my time on it they don't deserve anyone's custom.

Amazing that someone knows it's an FDev issue and not an issue with Steam updating - without even having to look into things?

Someone else said they had the same window pop up I did but that then had to wait for it to download - but nothing downloaded my end. It also showed in the downloads manager that it had downloaded after I just turned my computer on today - 6GB in a couple of minutes?

So maybe the issue is the Steam Download Manager!

Heads up someone from technical support on this matter please!

So as I scramble around trying to get to the bottom of the problem with ZERO help from FDev and ZERO help from Steam - I tried verifying the files and then it started downloading the update!

Finally getting somewhere. Kind of looking like maybe a Steam issue? Therefore here I am raising it? So much for pretty much everyone in this thread for taking a moment to read about the issue I was describing and maybe seeing what the problem is?

No thanks to Steam for not offering any useful advice. No thanks to FDev for banning me from the forums where I could have got some help there. And no thanks to the trolls and their negativity and character aspersions. Gaming forums..

Insulting people trying to help you is not the way to go about getting help.

The only thing we can tell you is if you have gone to the trouble of getting yourself banned on the steam game forums for breaking the rules as it's not "discrimination" then you will need to reach out to their tech support somewhere else.

Most games these days also have public reddit sites for issues and if you visit the store page here you can see many other links such as their facebook/twitter/community groups to get help on but if you abuse the rules on those sites they also have the right to ban you so best to act civil.

SOLVED

Update stuck. Verify Files - Release Stuck. Steam issue. Probably a common issue I expect, and now that I'm aware if it I won't have the misfortune of having to come on here and ask for technical support if it happens again.
