I want to fix my name

My profile name is changing without my permission. How do I deal with this?

Go to your profile, edit profile...
And change your name under profile name.(In general of course).Note: If your Steam is connected to your Discord;-remove it as well, and readd it. It won't show up with changes unless you do that.

Just like above said, visit profile, and edit profile name, then click save button at the bottom.

Of course I changed the name in the settings and click save button. however, the next day it reverted to the initial name.

My best response would be try and google your situation, if nothing else works. Normally it saves right after you've done the changes.Unless someone else, has that said name. 😉

Just for safety, follow these 3 steps, then make name change.

1. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
2. Change passwords from a trusted/clean computer.
3. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

Display names on Steam has no limit, you can have millions of people using same display name.

Oh?, so then maybe the issue they are facing might be steams end?.

Another reason why couldn't edit profile, or name change is if have community content temp ban, where can't upload screenshots, artwork, can't make guides, not edit display name, or the profile. Would get a banner that appear that yellow, or red stating the issue, and how long ban many last, also get email about it as well.

You won't see that for others, only account owner can see their own alerts.

Permanent bans will be displayed to everyone such as community ban, trade ban, game ban, or vac ban, as that appear as red text on profile.

• To my knwledge, support/moderartors not liking a name will reset it to the ID number, not the previous name
  
• A temporary or permanent block from changing the community name will prevent you from changing the name, not let you change the name and reset it later
  
• Thus, the user is either running a bot of some sorts that sets the profile name to something, or there's actually another user on the account doing it manually.
