I don't show up on friends' friend lists?

I tried looking up an answer for my problem but I can't seem to find one anywhere. When I go to my friends' profiles, I don't show up in the top 6, even though my steam level is high enough for me to show up. I still show up when I expand it to see all friends though. Is there any fix for this? I remember that it used to show up but I made my profile private at some point and now I don't show up. I'd like to level up my account but I feel that it's pointless to do so since I'm having this problem.

When you make your profile private it completely removes you from leveled lists, if it hasn't updated over a long period of time then you may need to delete/re-add that person. Is it really worth it just to appear at the top of a few lists? Most people I know hide their friends lists nowadays and it's much less of a hassle than dealing with people who target your profile and start spamming your friends.

I understand that it's not very important but it just bothered me a bit haha, besides just wanting to know why it wasn't updating. Thanks for your response!
