Can't Download Purchases Made Last Year
Hi,

Can anyone help me please.

I made a purchase of four flightsims in 2021, unfortunately I've been very ill with Acute Long Covid (I'm still not well but hopefully I'm in recovery).

I've been flying FSX for years - hoping to get MSFS 2020 in due course.

Today I thought I'd install my 2021 purchases and see what was what. None of them will install. I can't fathom as to why.

Then it dawned on me that there's no customer or tech support for Steam these days?

So I thought I'd ask here.

1) Any ideas as to why I can't install my purchases?

2) How can I contact Steam if they won't install and thus I can't access or use my purchases?

Many thanks in advance.

I might not be able to get back to you as quickly due to health etc.

Cheers!

1) As you are not saying how this error manifests, it's impossible to say.

2) help.steampowered.com
So, first of all, more info please.
What are the titles of those games that wont install?
What do you mean exactly with "wont install"? Is the button grayed out? Do you get a error message?

Also what are the specifications of your system? CPU, RAM, Graphic Card, Operating System.

The users here are usually very willing to help out with problems like this but they also need the basic info to start searching for a solution.
What happens when you try to install? Is there an error after you click the button?

Steam support works the ticket system: https://help.steampowered.com/en/
Hi Guys,

Thanks for the comments.

My apologies I suffer from brain fog and extreme fatigue, so I didn't craft my OP very well.

There's an error message for each purchase, when I go to install them (after I've clicked on "Install").

I'll try and replicate it tomorrow and get back to you with the exact error message.

This may sound odd, but due to brain fog etc, I've no clue as to the spec of the PC. It's a couple of years old and my memory was so bad, after not using it for many months, I forgot the password. In the 1990s I helped design specific commercial software and was a trainer for specific software etc. My mind is now a blank and I'm having to fill in the gaps again.

The Sims are; three of the Sturmovik titles and Aerofly FS 2 (and a couple of add on airfields).

I hope that helps for now.

Thanks again.

Hi Guys,

I've taken a screenshot of the error message - how do we upload such on here?

Thanks in advance.
Use a free image hoster like this:
https://prnt.sc/

And then just post the link.
But you could also just type out the error message unless its really long.

Hi,

Thanks I don't think so.

I did look at that - but to be fair, I'm flying blind (pun not intended).

I'm clicking on the purchased flight Sims. The error code has changed since yesterday. I'll try and get that on here.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks I'll try and give that a go. The error message is a bit wordy.

I'll be back later.

Cheers!
I was able to copy the text of the error message and paste hereunder:-

"An error occurred while updating IL-2 Sturmovic: Call of Dover Biz (manifest unavailable): cache:3-Bhr1.steamcontent.com/diepot/754531/nl/679108-4258295218718/5

See Steam Support For more Information"

I did look in Steam Support but couldn't find a specific answer.

Thanks in advance everyone.
What operating system? 64 or 32bit? Some games won't install into a 32bit operating system and will require 64bit, even just to download.

Another possibility is if you use a proprietary operating system like apple, some games will refuse to download because of no support for such system.
Try the following in that order:
1. Change download region. It can also be on another continent. Latency is irrelevant for download. If that fails,
2. Relog (log out and back in, clear any saved password if you did) and try again. If that fails,
3. Reinstall Steam. If you have any games installed, make local backups of them using the backup and restore function (Steam -> Backup and Restore Games). NOTE: Do not backup all games all at once. Doing this will glitch out the pregenerated name. Make backup bundles of at most 5 games.

You also can take a look at this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyBNEdnaiGU

Its usually a cache problem and there are multiple things you can try for it.
I would do that first before doing something drastic like reinstalling the client.

Hi,

It's 64 Bit Windows 10, I've not had any problems, that I can recall, prior Eg when adding to FSX Steam etc.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hi

Thanks.

Can you clarify point 1) please, what do you mean by latency? Also how do I change download region?

I don't save the password for Steam, I've logged in and out twice in past two days, from what I can recall, I'll give it a whirl again though.

Bit daunted by reinstalling Steam etc, I think I'll leave that as a last resort. Thanks for the advice.

All the best.
