My account has been Hacked & Stolen Please Help!!!
Hi, My account has been Hacked & Stolen recently... Was trying to open Steam as usual to play my games from the library. But I couldn't sign in at all. Then I went through steam community to check my account status... I was shocked... Some random dude were playing World of Tanks Blitz?? Which is a game I'd never touched. It seems to be linked to a (I believed) a Russian email address? Luckily that I got a second account which I use it to post here to seek for help. I've got a brunch of games purchased with Digital Gift Cards and it still got balance in it. It very frustrated to see somebody using my account and real name please make it stop. I don't mind if it's cannot be recovered but at least close that account!!!

Account Recovery
Make sure you are completely logged out of Steam before you start the recovery process

Hi, Thanks for the quick reply. But there is an issue I think they hacked my email address too. As I don't see any recovery link with the step-one... That is properly why I just notice my steam got hacked today. What should I do?

This is simply the wrong narrative. You have definitely not been "hacked" at any time, but have voluntarily provided your data to a stranger. This is an important lesson so that you will not make this mistake in the future.

Your account didn't get "hacked" it was hijacked.

Somewhere you were phished by entering all your account information into a scam website. These are usually 3rd party trading sites. This is in no way Steams fault, the blame is 100% on you.

What happens is that scammers create a fake Steam login page, and then lures people to the page.
When the user then enters their username/password, the scammer simply uses them to login themselves.

What every steam user needs to learn is to NEVER use their account to login anywhere other that the actual steam client (or web site).

Typical methods for luring you to a fake steam login:

* Setup a website, and offer users free stuff. User logs in and loses their account.

* A "friend" sends a message asking you to vote for their team in some tournament, usually CSGO, DOTA2 or other popular games, via a link. User logs in and loses their account.

* Someone leaves a comment on your profile, saying how you should join their CSGO team by following a link. User logs in and loses account.

If we are even more specific, even a hacked account would be hijacked, in this state its in.
What you mean, its details were likely phished..
But as we have been told, his email was taken as well.
So its not mandatory that his account must have been phished.

It still could be anything. You would have to ask for indices to define what happened.

Definitely and voluntarily are also no statements one can make in that way.
