Sound disappears if headphones are moved slightly
To preface this, the regular headphone jack on my laptop (Dell Legion Y540 - Windows 10 Home 21H2) is broken, so I have to use the USB-C port on the back of the laptop instead; I mention this because my headphones (Soundcore Life Q20) require three plug-ins to work properly (headphones to cord, cord to USB-C adaptor, USB-C adaptor to laptop) without resorting to the half-second audio delay of Bluetooth. Whenever I play a game on Steam, however, as soon as even a single one of these becomes unplugged (some of the plug-socket connections are a little finicky, especially the USB-C adaptor to my computer), all of the audio cuts out until I close the game and restart it. Is this just a normal feature of Steam, or something about my headphones, and is there a way to fix it in Settings (Steam settings or Windows settings)?

Its neither of them. Thats default on Windows 10+.
The only way to fix it, is for the developers listen to a off event, reload drivers once the headset reconnects and switch to the previous driver.

A good example I've is Minecraft. Microsoft had to patch Minecraft because Microsoft added that "feature" to Windows.
