Ryzen 7 5700g with rtx 3080 staying at 96 degrees, while playing games.
While playing games with this spec and using stock bios and stock amd cooler i am hitting 96 degrees and the cpu is staying there. I don't understand this because the cpu isn't at 100% usage. I was playing nfs payback at 2k resolution with ultra settings. can somebody explain why this is happening?

Poor cooling/airflow.

i just put on pbo limit in bios and set the thermals to 75 degrees now its staying there while gaming.

the g series is more for laptops and not for pc, for the grades need better air flow

Vermeer CPUs do not boost like Intel or even older AMD CPUs, they boost more like Nvidia’s GPU boost 3. They have a thermal ceiling and will attempt to keep boosting until they hit that thermal ceiling (allowing for power limits) That’s why Vermeer CPUs spend so much time in the 90s, The “thermal ceiling” for your CPU is 95c, so I wouldn’t worry, it seems hot but it is performing exactly how AMD designed it to perform.

The g suffix just means the chip comes with onboard graphics, nothing to do with being for laptops. It’s a desktop CPU.

In such cases, it often helps understanding if you go extreme: imagine a CPU with no cooler at all. Rather obviously, it'll quickly reach its thermal ceiling and even power down without any load at all.

Well, not quite true. The CPU may run a couple instructions of firmware code before powering down but that's hardly any load.

But i am using the stock issue amd cooler, is it because the fan profile might be in stealth mode?

Well, yeah, that may be the case.
