IMPOSSIBLE to change my email? No way to send a support ticket?!
So, for an hour now, I have been trying to change my email through the steam client and online. The old email in the system was hacked and I can't get into it, and the phone info is also out of date. What I need is to be able to contact someone at steam, but this is impossible for me at the moment. Sending a support ticket also seems impossible as I can not find a single link to a support ticket, just links to the things I have already tried, which are NOT working. Can ANYONE help, possibly a STEAM employee?


I have tried...

*Change email in steam client (4 times!). I enter ALL the info, then get the "captcha not received" error message. There is no Captcha option for that in the form I fill out for that. Kinda hard to fulfill that pre-req when it doesn't exist.

*Log ins from multiple browsers to attempt the same. Problem here is that I never use my browsers to access steam, and steam wants to send an authentication code to proceed on my browser each time I try.... to my HACKED email address, which I can't access!

*no phone support - tried

*no live chat support - can't find any

*no way to submit a ticket - just gives more links that don't work for me



So.... is there a way that I can make contact with someone to fix this? Newell and Co. OBVIOUSLY don't care to support their customers, that is evidenced by the inability to contact someone for support.

Thus this is my only option to reach out, can someone offer help please? Thanks!

@my new friend - utterly useless post, and comments to boot... people can't be upset at the lack of customer support i guess...

People follow the linked guide and recover their accounts by answering no when they do not have access to their email for example so the guide works.

Follow steps 2 - 7. If you follow the guide steps CORRECTLY, you will be sent to the account recovery form where you can also contact steam support and talk to a representative. You simply need to follow the guide. There is a place where you can submit your tickets, you just need to read.

I can't seem to follow it from step 1 as I did not receive the type of email shown to get the process started.

I have been to step 7 multiple times, but again, no Captcha authentication, so that doesn't work for me :(

Step 2 only works when you are not currently logged into an account

I tried to log out, thanks, but I can't log into the client without well, logging in....

Browser log in doesn't work like I described above :(

is there a way to use the client while logged out?

Keep yourself logged out of your account. Come back to this thread. Then follow the steps in the guide to get to the account recovery page. Fill out all of the information required then submit the information and wait for steam support to help recover your account.

If you verified ownership correctly, steam will send you a message via email that your account has been recovered. They will give you a temporary new secure password to use until you can enable steam guard and change the password to something you want.

EDIT: Try to do this in the browser not the client.

OK, logged out of client and used link in guide, was finally able to get a ticket submitted!

My many thanks to you for your help!

Just curious, that link to start the process in step 2 though, where would I have found that besides the linked guide posted? It's just that it didn't seem obvious at all where to do that until it was posted here.

Another angle maybe, could be same, but seen from proof of ownership.
credit card and bank , + bought game that match that. ( only seen family issue with that then its who has PW and steam cant judge who is not legit ownership, require more privat info to steam and not here.
